Preeminent national women’s chamber extending member benefits, advocacy to Soroptimist members
[Washington, D.C.] The U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce™ is pleased to welcome Soroptimist, an international volunteer service organization for business and professional women, as an Association member, and extend member benefits to Soroptimist's 45,000 members—21,000 of whom are in the U.S.
Soroptimist is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pa. Its members contribute time and financial support to projects that benefit women and girls. Soroptimist's major service project, the Women's Opportunity Awards program, provides cash grants to head-of-household women seeking to improve their economic situation through additional education and training.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to partner with Soroptimist leaders and members,” says Margot Dorfman, CEO of the USWCC. “We’re creating the most influential alliance of women’s groups in the country, working to provide greater economic development opportunities for women, and bringing about real change on the key issues affecting women in business,” she adds.
“We keep a close eye on organizations and individuals with like-minded objectives, and team up whenever we can to get results,” Dorfman adds. “We certainly believe the old adage: ‘There’s strength in numbers.’
“Soroptimist has provided leadership opportunities and has served as a global voice for women since 1921. We’re confident our partnership will help open even more doors for women in business, education and the public arena.”
"We are equally as excited to be affiliated with USWCC," says Leigh Wintz, Soroptimist’s executive director. "Partnering with this organization, one with such an influential voice on issues important to women, will truly help us to carry out our mission to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world."
