Purpose: To help small business owners find and secure opportunities in the federal arena where they can compete effectively. To help small business owners establish strategic relationships that will bring them a greater competitive edge against big businesses.
Dates and Times: February 1, 2005 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm.
Agenda Highlights:
- Strategic Positioning for Small Business: A big picture look at federal contracting for small business including best position for your business in the federal market and how to be competitive in this challenging environment.
- Research: Methods of research to identify and develop the best opportunities for your firm.
- Marketing: Identifying and capitalizing on the key opportunities to market your business including responses to sources sought, identifying and developing relationships with the decision-makers, debriefings, etc.
- Making your business case: Identifying the strengths of your small business and relating these to the hot buttons for decision makers.
- Industry Discussions: Breakout session by industry to meet other businesses owners and identify core issues and solutions.
- Competitiveness is the Key: To secure contracts your small business must leverage effectively through teaming, developing strong prime-contractor relationships, business consortium relationships and more.
- Accessing Opportunities Through Joint Ventures with Native American Owned Firms: The National Center For American Indian Enterprise Development
- Department of Homeland Security: Understanding the changing landscape at DHS and where the future opportunities will be for small business.
- Department of Energy: Understanding the DOE laboratories and the unique opportunities for small businesses.
- Department of Defense: How small businesses can connect with opportunities at the DOD through technology transfer initiatives.

Special Industry Needs Session: By popular demand - we will have a special session where businesses in like industries will have the opportunity to meet together to discuss industry needs, learn about one another's businesses and potentially secure future teaming partners.
One-on-one Opportunities: Each participating small business will have the opportunity to provide detailed information on their business. Agency representatives will have the opportunity to select businesses to meet with one-on-one (per their selections). This information will be provided to the following agencies for consideration: Agriculture, Air Force, Army, Commerce, DCMA, DISA, DOD, DLA, Homeland Security, TSA, Education, DOE, EPA, GSA, HHS, Interior, Justice, Labor, NASA, Navy, Transportation, USAID, Veterans Affairs, The National Center For American Indian Enterprise Development (Please note: We cannot guarantee that your business will be selected by an agency for a one-one-one. Every effort is made to assist small business owners to meet with appropriate representatives.)
Online Introductions and Communications: All attendees will be provided access to an online message area to provide introductions to other attendees and to setup appointments.
