The U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce invites you to be part our February 2005 National Women's Leadership Summit.
Register now for this two-day summit that marks the beginning of several groundbreaking activities for the U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce and USWCC coalition partners. Included will be a strong new approach to growing the power of women in politics, a forum on the upcoming social security debate and other important policy updates and initiatives.
We will also elevate the access, opportunity and influence of women business owners seeking business growth through gaining government contracts. For too long our government leaders have accepted the status quo while women business owners lose out on billions of dollars of opportunities.
Attendees may register for one day or two. (Go here for details and registration.)
2/1/05 – Getting the Win: Strategic Opportunities for Small Business Owners
The focus of this summit is to help small business owners find and secure opportunities in the federal arena where they can compete effectively. To help small business owners establish strategic relationships that will bring them a greater competitive edge against big businesses. USWCC has partnered with the National Procurement Council for this summit. To learn more, go here.
2/2/05 – Establishing a New Level of Influence for Women in Politics and the Political Machinery
The U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce firmly determined to radically change the level of influence women have in politics and the political machinery that runs our two party system. To do this we are focusing on strategic changes in how women and women's groups deal with political leaders and seek elected office.
To dramatically increase the number of women running for office and the influence women have within our political parties, we are launching:
Pipeline to the Presidency. Pipeline will forever change the number of women running for the key elected offices that are steppingstones to the presidency. This will be accomplished in a number of ways including:
- "You should run!" We are launching a national call for nominations from women all over the country. We want to hear from you. Who would you like to see run for the U.S. House, Senate or for Governor of your state? You may nominate someone you know personally, a public figure or current elected official - or even yourself. Go here to nominate someone now.
- Pipeline Candidates: By January 2, 2005 we will announce our first class of Pipeline Candidates. These women will have the opportunity to meet with political party leaders and will be introduced at the summit and featured in USWCC media releases, local community forums, and at the USWCC Web Portal. Additionally, we will be working to prepare women to be campaign volunteers. The USWCC will work with our national coalition partners to help our candidates in every way possible to be ready to win elected office.
Our top goals for Pipeline to the Presidency are to:
- Have a woman running for each of the "Pipeline" offices during every election cycle in every state.
- Become closely involved with the political organizations that seek out candidates and funding so that we are part of the political machinery – not standing outside looking in.
- Get more women into key party positions.
- Be the major mechanism for women in the U.S. to enter the political process, meet key influencers and become embraced by the party systems.
On 2/2/05 we will introduce our new Pipeline candidates at the National Women's Leadership Summit and provide details of our Pipeline to the Presidency structure and methods. We will layout how the USWCC is moving women closer to the centers of influence within the parties and other political organizations and discuss next steps for establishing and solidifying our influence.
Attendees will be briefed on current important issues including social security, affordable health care and business issues. A highlight of our issues segment will include a live debate of the issues by two of our Pipeline Candidates. Summit attendees will be able to submit questions to our debaters and help prepare these candidates for future debates.
We will also be working closely with our coalition partners at this summit and beyond so that we are working in a strong unified manner towards achieving real progress for women.
